Because the construction in Dubai has been so fast and unbridled, you end up with a city that feels more like a giant construction site than a place where people live. I took this Panorama from the roof of my hotel. You can just make out Jebel Ali Village downtown area to the right, it’s the area merged with Dubai Marina to make the 2nd city centre of Dubai (after Bur Dubai itself). But the empty spaces and low construction in between are in stark contrast. This gives you also an idea of the size of Dubai. My hotel was about halfway between the Marina and Bur Dubai, several miles apart but part of the same city.
